Carolyn Mackin

Carolyn Mackin’s abstract and multi-layered paintings have an energy that is full of movement yet feels grounded. She is fascinated with pattern and color; and inspired by hand blocked fabrics, architectural archways, and the thrill of cities. She hopes the viewer’s eye will roam around the canvas to discover visual stimuli—much like a traveler who is exploring an exotic location for the first time. For Carolyn, a painted pattern, a well-placed brushstroke, or the juxtaposition of one color visually vibrating next to another can elicit intense excitement and energy.

Because Carolyn has a passion for home décor, she loves creating custom paintings that look amazing within the space they will ultimately reside. She lives in Wellesley, MA with her husband and two boys, and creates in a light-filled art studio on the third floor of her circa 1898 home.

Get to know Carolyn:

  • Mojito- the fresh mint is everything!

  • I spent a month painting an electrical box that I had been commissioned to do. I assumed I had more flexibility in the design- so just when I thought I was done, I had to start over and accurately match the imagery in the proposal. Opps- lesson learned!
