Julie Matos

Julie Matos has easily become one of the most highly demanded celebrity stylists in the fashion industry. Her work ethic, charm, and innate gift for trend analysis has influenced such big names as Avon, Nordstrom, Macy’s, New York and Company, Maybelline New York, and Pepsi. Considering her reputation for sleek, luxurious style, it is no surprise that Julie has styled several top A-listers including Julianne Moore, Sofia Vergara, Mena Suvari, Glenn Close, Chelsea Handler, Rose Byrne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Zooey Deschanel, Kelly Osborne, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Debra Messing, Kristen Bell, and Leighton Meester.

Julie first launched her career by producing and styling fashion shows for May Department Stores in Boston, where she collaborated with major fashion publications and launched new collections. She moved to New York City, quickly establishing herself as a freelance fashion editor and advertising campaign stylist. Her show styling experience has taken her around the world to the runways of New York, Milan, and Paris and to the broadcasted sets of America’s Next Top Model, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, WE TV’s “My Fair Wedding”, and TV Land’s “She’s Got The Look”. Her work has been featured in and praised by editorials including Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Rolling Stone, InStyle UK, People, New York Magazine, Blackbook, and Style Magazine Paris.

Julie is currently based out of both New York and Los Angeles, where she continues to expand her repertoire.

Get to know Julie:

• What was the most fun adventure that lead to an unexpected result during your career?

  My most thrilling adventure, which led to unexpected career results, was my debut at Paris Fashion Week and shooting a Haute Couture editorial for a magazine in Dubai. It all began with a spontaneous test shoot with a Boston photographer; Melissa Mahoney in NYC, where I transformed dollar store table cloths into gowns. From there, I found myself front row at Dior, igniting my journey as a Fashion Editor/Stylist and fueling my ongoing inspiration in the fashion world.

• Without mentioning names, which well known client surprised you the most and why?

  The client who surprised me the most was a well-known comedian, whose genuine thoughtfulness and graciousness stood out. Despite their comedic persona, they always took the time to send a thank-you note and gifted me my favorite Gucci scarf. Their blend of humor and kindness left a lasting impression on me, and she was hilariously funny too!
